Browsing the website

You can browse the collection without giving any personal data. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting. To determine which country a visitor is in (needed for the VAT rules that apply to the “Send a postcard” service), we look up the country of your IP address in a database stored on our own server (IP geolocation data by DB-IP); your IP address is not sent to anyone for this.

Cookies

We only use strictly necessary cookies: a session cookie that protects the order form against misuse. It is deleted when you close your browser.

Sending a postcard

When you send a postcard we process: your name and e-mail address, the recipient's name(s) and e-mail address, your message, the country you live in, the country of your IP address, and payment details we receive from our payment provider (payment status, payment method and the country associated with your payment — not your card or bank number). We use this data to send the postcard, to send you a confirmation, to handle questions, refunds and complaints, and to meet our tax obligations (EU VAT rules require us to record where our customers are based).

The legal basis is the performance of our agreement with you and our legal (tax) obligations. For the recipient, the basis is our legitimate interest in delivering the postcard you asked us to send; we use the recipient's data for nothing else.

Who else receives data

  • Mollie B.V. (Netherlands), our payment provider, for handling the payment.
  • Mailgun (Sinch), for sending the e-mails, through its EU region.
  • Our hosting provider in the Netherlands, where the website and its database are stored.

We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else, unless we are legally required to.

How long we keep data

Order data is kept for seven years, because Dutch tax law requires us to keep our records for that period. Server logs are kept for a limited period by our host.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, or to receive it in a portable format. Where we must keep data for tax purposes, we cannot delete it before that period ends. E-mail us at mail@tgtc.org. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority; in the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
